Does anybody ever use the center of rotation? We think it's too fiddly so we're thinking of getting rid of it and replacing it with curved paths.
What do you guys think?

The center of rotation is very useful. Is used for character animation. Move arms and legs. Would also have a parent child hierarchy between objects.

Sorry oliver, it got removed. I think what you want is bones, we hope to add this in the future.

I did find CoR a bit fiddle and Bones would be a great addition. It would really make me WANT to create animations

Bones is on our suggestion list as well as rigid body dynamics. Fingers crossed it gets added in the future.

why would you remove such a useful feature, when you haven't already added the bones feature?

We added the curve feature which does something similar. It was hard to have both features + timelines within timelines in JavaScript. It was starting to struggle on smaller devices like phones.

Sorry we had to compromise.

Isn't the question by now "Does anybody ever use the curves?"? I don't and I would very much prefer to have the center of rotation back and the curves removed. However, if this is a performance killer, I can do without both

I was just looking for this feature and you took it out? So until you add bones it is pretty much impossible to do any character animation in Hippo.? Do you have a vague time frame as to when bones might happen? Far too many question marks in this post but I think you get the idea. Dave

I'll +1 the suggestion, looks like we need to try and get some kind of rotate around a point system back in place. The last system was really hard to use, which is one of the reasons we removed it, so maybe we need to come up with an alternative. In the meantime, here is an example of rotating around a point using curves: www.hippostudios.co/?S=Animator&P=AnimatorGalleryView&I=3&RecordId=16Here is a diagram of how to do rotating around a point with curves, you can create exactly the same effect.

Well, that is something at least, even though it is a tad limited. Bones would definitely seem to be the way forward so my vote would be to get them as high up the features list as possible. The Program is called Hippo Animator after all :-)

Personally I didn't find the center of rotation hard to use. Not at all in fact.
I still have a copy of Hippo Animator 2 and I just opened it to try the feature. And now I really want it back in Hippo Animator 3.
on anther note I opened an animation made in Hippo Animator 3 and timeline objects actually works in Hippo Animator 2. That I didn't expect:)
