If I create a block of text, and set its color and font and font size, and then I want to use similar styling for another block of text, I see that I cannot duplicate it. But I don't see how to copy it either -- if I want to maintain the styling but edit the text in another part of the movie. Is there a way to set up a style for text and reuse it for multiple instances with different text?

Right click it in the library and choose "Duplicate". We have a suggestion for favorite font styles, like the favorite colors. I'll +1 it.

But "Duplicate" means I cannot edit one instance of the text without changing every other duplicated instance. That's the problem. I want to use similar-looking text, but have different words in different parts of the piece. For example, I might want a half dozen text boxes that pop up over parts of a diagram when someone hovers over the diagram. But each text box, while formatted similarly, has different text. That's what I need to do.
So yes, I can literally duplicate text, but I only want to copy the styling, with the ability to *change* the text. Sorry if that was not clear before.

Hi yes I understood. If you duplicate the text in the library it will work like you want it to. You can change the text on one without changing the rest. Just make sure you change the text on the duplicate, not the original.
If you duplicate in the timeline then it is the same instance and changing the text on one will change all of them.

Thank you. I don't know how I missed that before. Oh well, still a newbie... Orson
