It happens a few times when I was in timeline and then accidentally click the create new timeline button deleted all my animation, no undo. I believe all functions must not be destructive.

There is no "create new timeline" button in the timeline. Can you send a screenshot?
... It might be this:
When you create a new timeline, it opens a new window and it looks like the movie is empty, but it's actually a new timeline. Just close it.

 The left button under "File" is to create new timeline inside timeline.  Click on it will clear all animation and even if I close it and reopen, everything is gone in that timeline. |

We've removed that button from version 4, which we are currently working on.
