You may have noticed that there are not many updates at the moment. Don't worry, we're very busy behind the scenes. We're working hard on changing to a new name. There will be a new website and expect an early beta of Hippo 5 possibly by July. We've got a some great new features in the pipeline.

Come on, we are eager to know more about that. Can you anticipate something?

Agree with Leorod. Could you unveil some of the features planned for Hippo Animator 5, please?!

I will, as soon as I can. There are quite a few being pushed forward and built but until they're confirmed, I can't confirm. I do know that a slider control has been built.

Being an impatient fan I wonder if there is a plan or a schedule for Ha 5?

We've got a list of big features we want to add and we're only about 1/3 of the way through. Sadly, we're being delayed a bit by non-hippo stuff. It might be a bit longer I'm afraid. We're currently working on adding 100's of new primitive shapes.

That's one of the things on the list. We've not done it yet, but I hope we do.

We're still working away, sorry it's taking so long. I confirm nested scriptable frames and script id's will be available in v5.
e.g. Timeline1.Circle.X=100; and TextBoxSet("Timeline2.TextBox1","Hello");
Also, templates will be available.
Also, there are now about 600+ primitive shapes which are available in the main editor, the image editor and the drawing editor.
Also, we're adding a system that allows you to change movie type e.g. Universal, HTML5, video. Only available features will then be displayed. This will allow us to have a HTML5 export feature that can include new functionality e.g. canvas (we've not added that yet, just the movie type system.)
We're planning a new payment model, something like 4$ a month. Does that sound ok to you guys? Once we get that payment model sorted, we'll release an alpha. There is still a tonne of feature we want to add, it's frustrating that it's taking so long.

I don't think I'll be getting on board with the new payment method, reason being, I have owned Hippani for well over 12 months and I hardly use it once a month and then it's just playing around with an idea and when I get stuck I post to the forum only to be told Hippani is not capable of doing what I require. There would have to be more "aid to market" tools for users to create apps and ebooks etc that allow people to monetize their projects. I'm not trying to sound rude here but you can't ask people to make regular payments when you keep telling them that you are going to add that suggestion to the list on a constant basis. You run the risk of your users deciding to turn to a more established product.

It's a fair point. We're hoping a low price might help people get on board and it might work better with a continuous development model. However, if you hardly use the software then it's not a great deal. We hope eventually to add all the feature people keep asking for. That's the plan. It's just a very slow process.

I really do love this software hence the reason I am still active on this forum and have created quite a few presentations that have won me work over the years so the software has value for me in my business. Hippani has a very strong forum where others are willing to help out which has also been a godsend. A strong forum builds a strong user base. Maybe there are other avenues that could raise extra funding like adding an app publishing service or an area where people can purchase templates, characters, objects etc? If that area was an "open to content providers" type model, similar to Renderosity/DAZ you would attract that userbase to the software. Hippani then simply take a percentage of sales each month. I know I would pay good money for a Hippani E Book template that is already set up for publishing.
Cheers d.k

A few people have been pushing that idea.

The new features looks very promising, I can't wait to try the templates. I personally dislike a monthly fee for a desktop aplication. For a desktop software I prefer the "pay once" model and keep paying for major upgrades and for additional services as said d.k, templates, javascript libraries, resources, etc. A lot of great software are following the "pay once" model to make a difference with the subscription model used by cloud applications and by the Adobe model.

I can't wait to see the new release of this software. This software will be the next big thing to replace Adobe Flash.
More Power to you Hippani.
